shoshana forwarded this email to me....

A modern day cowboy has spent many days crossing the Texas plains without water.

His horse has already died of thirst.

He's crawling through the sand, certain that he has breathed his last breath - when all of a sudden he sees an object sticking out of the sand several yards ahead of him.

He crawls to the object, pulls it out of the sand, and discovers what looks to be an old brief case.

He opens it and out pops a genie. But this is no ordinary genie.

She is wearing an IRS ID badge and a dull gray dress.

There's a calculator in her pocketbook. She has a pencil tucked behind one ear.

"Well, cowboy," says the genie... "You know how I work. You have three wishes."

"I'm not falling for this", said the cowboy. "I'm not going to trust an IRS genie."

She smiled and said, "What do you have to lose? You've got no transportation, and it looks like you're a goner anyway!"

The cowboy thinks about this for a minute, and decides that the genie is right.

He said, "OK, I wish I were in a lush oasis with plenty of food and drink."

***POOF***

The cowboy finds himself in the most beautiful oasis he has ever seen. And he is surrounded with jugs of wine and platters of delicacies.

The genie said, "OK, cowpoke, what's your second wish."

"My second wish is that I was rich beyond my wildest dreams."

***POOF***

The cowboy finds himself surrounded by treasure chests filled with rare gold coins and precious gems.

The genie said, "OK, cowpuncher, you have just one more wish. Better make it a good one!"

After thinking for a few minutes, the cowboy says... "I wish that no matter where I go, beautiful women will want and need me."

***POOF***

He turned into a tampon.

The moral of the story: If the government offers you anything, there's going to be a string attached.

Feb. 5th, 2006 @ 07:19 pm wonderful weekend
Current Mood: jubilantjubilant
after a bad day at work on thursday, the weekend made up for it and proved to be quite lovely.

i went to visit ryan at western for the weekend. ryan came to pick me up friday and brought me back sunday. i had looked into the greyhound and it cost over $80, so i paid for gas and ryan made the trip, so it came out cheaper.

friday we got there at dinner time and we ate at bigalow w/ ryan's roomie john. i got a tour of the dorm and ryan and john's room. they decorated quite nicely. they have green rope lights up, so i think it's because they like MSU, although ryan denies that. i know the truth. on saturday we toured campus then drove over to east campus that had a bunch of old, rundown buildings w/ boarded up windows. next to that, the ROTC had a building, and right next to that, practically connecting, was the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. funny that it's practically on campus, right next to ROTC and campus buildings....i bet that's where student's go that crack under the pressure! we also walked around downtown kalamazoo a little bit and had dinner at campus kitchen, which we're not sure if it's chinese or malaysian food. but either way, it was yummy. we watched big daddy and ace venture: when nature calls, and somewhere in there we took a nap. on sunday, we had breakfast at sweetwater, which is a very yummy donut place. i haven't had donuts in a long time, and it was yummy w/ hot chocolate to drink.

ryan and i are planning a trip to cape cod, mass. this summer, so i'm very super excited and looking forward to that!

today i had an apo meeting, so i went to that. and i have to study and do homework cuz i have an exam tomorrow morning and a microeconomics set due tomorrow night. i am not watching the super bowl.

happy birthday to me!

january 20th was my 20th birthday......all in all it was a wonderful weekend. birthday's are usually fun, but this is the most fun i've had for a birthday in a long time.

at work on friday, i asked my boss if i could leave early because it was my birthday (on friday's i'm originally suppose to work 10-4, and i asked if i could leave around 2, but by 3 for sure)...i told him it was my birthday and he said i could leave whenever i wanted, but first he treated justin, jake (my co-workers), and me to lunch. we also picked up my boss's son, richard, from middle school, cuz i guess they had a half day. i got to choose where to go and i picked mcalisters. i left work at 2.

ryan came up from western around 5:15 (i will go on record to say that he was late....but i'm only saying that cuz he thinks he wasn't late...lol)....and around 5:30 everyone else started to gather in my dorm. our party consisted of ryan, shoshana, angela, michal, liz, julie c., justin, and me! we went to pizza house for dinner. michal, julie, ryan and i split a very yummy chicago stuffed pizza (i got to pick the toppings...though it was hard work trying to get us all to agree...lol). i was surprised with a delicious, giant chocolate chip cookie-cake with yummy frosting...and people sang happy birthday....it was a very yummy dessert.

we were going to go bowling afterwards, but there was a long wait for open lanes so we ended up going to zap-zone for some laser tag. aaron (shoshana's boyfriend) joined us there, and it was super super fun. it was the first time i ever played laser tag, and i loved it. we scattered our separate ways after two rounds of that....but i'm happy to hear that everyone seemed to have had a good time. it was a nice group.

on saturday, ryan and i were going to do some homework in the library, but we were very lazy and we spent the better part of the morning and afternoon on the lounger just chatting about stuff. then we did finally make it to the library for a few hours, and after dinner, we joined angela in watching The 40 Year Old Virgin.....funny movie!

Ryan left today (sunday morning) after breakfast, and i'm prolly going to attempt at being productive today...i know i have to at least get my economics out of the way cuz it's due tomorrow at 11pm and i wanna play poker with michal and his buddies at 8ish....so i gotta get that done.

i also got accepted to the Panama study abroad program, and now i dunno what to do, cuz i want to go, but i don't know if i should...it's a lot of $...i've got a little under two weeks to decided...

all in all, it was a wonderful weekend, but i really have my roomie shoshana to thank for it....cuz she kinda got things into motion and took care of lots of things. i'm glad she did it.....thanks shosh!

quizzies....

right up your alley. You might even be able to round up enough friends

Well done. The chances of you guessing this much correctly are quite
slim, so you must have an idea what you're doing. You're good enough to
do better, perhaps a few ill-advised guesses cost you a category. That
or you just got plain lucky, and might find your time better spent in a
casino. The most important thing is you obviously didn't cheat, like
most people. (Or maybe I'm just being cynical, does this kind of

school has started, we're a week into the new semester already

it's hectic...18 credit hours (5 classes) and at least 12 hours of work/week....and trying to factor in some fun time....

i do like my classes. in psychology we learned about Phineas Gage. He was a rail road foreman, who had an iron rod go right through his head. it entered right below his left eye and came out the top of his head, going right through his pre-frontal cortex. the point of learning about this was to learn the purpose of the pre-frontal cortex. this part of the brain is all about personality and decision making. phineas became a totally different person after his brain was damaged. he went from being a respectable foreman, to a crude man, constantly making rash and wrong decisions.

the first week flew by very quickly. this weekend was good though. ryan came up friday, and we watched Good Morning, Vietnam with Robin Williams. i really liked that movie. we played a few rounds of backgammon, and i really am a backgammon champion...poor ryan.

today i went to meijer with shoshana...and boy oh boy...i spent more money than expected, but i try to find comfort in the fact that i did buy only the necessities, and that really is the truth.

my family came to take me out to dinner for my birthday, which is really on friday (jan 20). it was fun, the meal was good, and i got a gift certificate to the GAP and some cash. they also brought up my last paycheck from working at the theater over break...yay!

next week is my birthday....yay!

i stole this from julie's profile:

Life is all about asses...
you're either covering it,
laughing it off,
kicking it,
kissing it,
busting it,
trying to get a piece of it,
or behaving like one ...
